Public Power Week Resources

Celebrating the Value of Public Power

Public Power Week is all about spotlighting and celebrating the value that locally owned and operated electric service provides our communities—value like unmatched reliability, excellent local service, and essential local jobs.

While those benefits are present every day, we are especially grateful for them in times of need. Many public power communities experienced devastating flooding in the wake of Hurricane Helene, leading to widespread power outages. As recovery efforts continue, public power has shined bright. Local utility crews have worked day and night to safely restore power as quickly as possible, assisted by mutual aid crews from across North Carolina.

Even as recovery efforts may affect how some communities celebrate, we’re so proud to cheer all the ways public power is Powering Our Community’s Future.

Public Power Week 2024 is Oct. 6-12.
